Work with Me
  • Kind words from Mariah

My prenatal work with Julie allowed me to approach birth face to face with curiosity and commitment. We worked diligently together on examining my personal internal stories, fears, and beliefs about my capabilities, and compassionately asked each part if it was needed in my birth space. Julie was a kind, rose colored mirror to show me parts of myself that I could love more fiercely & believe more strongly in. We deeply explored what it meant to transition from Maiden to Mother, and I am still carrying those reflections with me even now, a year postpartum.

What any person would hope for in a doula, is what Julie is, simply as Julie. She is an anchor to comfort and reality when you’re in the depths of labor, and she is a strong, firm hand on your hips when you need the extra pressure. She believes in the body’s power & she believes in your power as the Mother. She showed me a quality of care & support during birth that I had not yet known. In the dark parts of labor - the anger, the fear, the need for endless perseverance - she would gently remind me that she was there, and with the kind of love & support that only another Mother could share. She was unwavering in her support for my partner as well; encouraging him to step out for a breath alone, or a bite of a meal, and she laughed and cried with us right along side him.

Julie is this work embodied in the world. She lives it. It does not come effortlessly from her, she does the important work of asking herself the big questions and does the healing to allow a calm & grounded presence to be there for you. She was my tether to the known when I was in the unknown of labor, and I am infinitely thankful for the connection we shared.
